• FRESH FLOWER CARE
  Basic Care For Fresh Flowers: Product appearance and vase life are directly related to proper care and handling. Listed below are some generally accepted guidelines for the care of your fresh cut flowers.
  
  
  INSTRUCTIONS FOR RETAILERS:
  1. Once the flowers have been removed from the cooler, make fresh diagonal cuts approximately one inch from the bottom of the stems. This will allow for a clean, free and ample flow of water to the flower heads.
  2. Remove all leaves which would fall below the water line.
  3. Place flowers in a clean container with a mixture of water and floral preservative.
  4. Empty, clean and refill containers with fresh water daily.
  5. Keep flowers away from drafts, heat sources and direct sunlight.
     
     
• ROSE CARE
  Basic Care For Roses: Product appearance and vase life are directly related to proper care and handling. Listed below are some generally accepted guidelines for the care of your roses.
  
  
  INSTRUCTIONS FOR RETAILERS:
  1. Immediately upon receipt of your shipment, open the box and inspect the roses. Any damage should be promptly reported to your Account Executive.
  2. Cut and remove the elastic band which secures the sleeve to the protective cardboard wrapping.
  3. Gently, but firmly, pull out the wrapping and shake out bunch. Our plastic sleeve may be left on the flowers for display purposes, holds the bunch together and allows for ease in shipping.
  4. Remove any foliage that will fall below the water line to reduce bacterial contamination of the water. Removing the thorns will not harm the roses, as long as the skin has not been damaged
  5. Cut, in a diagonal direction, approximately 1 inch from the base of the stems with a sharp knife. This will expose a fresh and wider surface of the stems to the water.
  6. Hydrate roses in a clean container with the floral preservative of your choice. However, do not use more than the recommended dosage as roses are very sugar sensitive.
  7. Place roses in a refrigerated (34 - 41°F, 2 - 5°C) holding area with 80% relative humidity until sold.
     
     

  Tip:
  Placing the roses in a dark cooler for the first hours of hydration will aid in extending the life of the flowers.

  Note:
  Many of our varieties develop guard petals, irregular looking outer petals. They are used by the rose as a defense against the elements. We leave these petals on the rose for additional protection during transportation.

  You may remove them upon receipt of your shipment. Some growers remove guard petals for cosmetic reasons, allowing the rose to suffer unnecessary damage. In addition, if too many petals are peeled, the rose will open in a star-like manner and a pointed-looking bud will result.
